Another booth which I spent time learning more about new products during the recent NAHB National Green Conference was the CREE LED Lighting Solutions. LED lighting is coming on strong. For example their Cree XLamp ™ with proprietary lighting technology and active color management delivers the warm light of an incandescent bulb and substantially out performs a CFL fixture.  The Cree LR6 lights are dimmable and are designed to deliver warm beautiful light for 50,000 hours.  They have a higher initial cost but the forecast of savings comes from their longer life and fewer bulb changes. One of the other benefits is that they do no heat up like an incandescent bulb.  That could help cut down on ones air conditioning load.
