Colorado Renewable Energy Society Annual Meeting

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Time flies and before you know it the Colorado Renewable Energy Society will have their annual meeting in June. Following is information from their web site that explains who they are and what they do.

The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is a nonprofit membership organization that works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and serves as a leading resource in providing renewable energy information to the people of Colorado to support the sensible adoption of these technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.

CRES is the Colorado chapter of the American Solar Energy Society and is organized into regional chapters that hold their own educational meetings and manage local solar homes tours in October.

What We Do

CRES conducts monthly meetings and webcasts on renewable energy and energy efficiency. It holds the Colorado Renewable Energy Conference each summer that highlights activities and new opportunities in Colorado and the West. It annually awards Colorado builders, architects, engineers, and building owners for innovative use of renewable energy in their buildings. And it organizes the Colorado Tour of Solar Homes the first weekend in October when thousands of homeowners visit solar homes in their towns and neighborhoods and learn about the benefits of solar energy. The CRES Speakers Bureau provides expert speakers to educational, civic and business groups at their location.

The Saturday dinner speaker is Steve Andrews.  I have known Steve for about 30 years. We worked together on committees and we were talking about energy issues and challenges back in the early days when were reeling from the effects of OPEC.  He has made great contributions as a consultant and a writer for the home building industry. He has studied world oil supply for years and is a sought after speaker on the topic.  He lives in an off grid home with a more than a million dollar view.  If you are interested in energy issues click on the links below for more information.  Steve is worth the ticket to the conference.
